Discussing Reading One, Dec. 17, 2025 I think out loud about some of the things
that came up in yesterday's reading. Topics discussed:
(1) the relationship between the universal and particular in Hegel vs.other philosophers and
how that might be relevant to Marx's methodology in Capital, (2) the distinction between material
form and social content, (3) the sociality not just of 'value' but of use-vlue too.
NOTE: about 8'50'' in I refer to Marx as an Empiricist. This is a slip of the tongue. He was a materialist, but not an empiricist.
